REEsilience welcomes the official launch of the EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform, a new digital initiative aimed at helping EU companies secure vital energy products and raw materials in an increasingly competitive and climate-conscious global market.
The platform is designed to bolster the competitiveness, decarbonisation, and security of supply across EU industries by simplifying how companies connect, coordinate, and cooperate on energy sourcing.
A key feature of the platform is its aggregation and matchmaking service, which collects supply and demand offers from businesses across the EU. This creates a structured pathway for identifying synergies and initiating joint purchasing arrangements, especially critical for sectors where scale and coordination are vital.
Multi-Mechanism Platform
The platform will gradually host a range of dedicated mechanisms, starting with:
Hydrogen
Raw Materials
Biomethane, LNG, and Natural Gas
The Raw Materials Mechanism will provide help in securing strategic raw materials for the energy transition by supporting business cases of strategic projects and strengthening the resilience of supply chains, supported by the Regulation on critical raw materials (EU/2024/1252) which provides the Commission with a mandate to set up and operate the mechanism.
Other categories may be added in the future as the platform evolves to meet the needs of emerging markets and technologies.
