DESCRIPTION:The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is the leading voice of the mineral exploration and development community\, an industry that employs more than 665\,000 individuals\, and contributed $125 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2021. Currently representing over 8\,000 members around the world\, PDAC’s work centers on supporting a competitive\, responsible\, and sustainable mineral sector. \nThe annual award winning PDAC Convention in Toronto\, Canada brings together up to 30\,000 attendees from over 130 countries for its educational programming\, networking events\, business opportunities and fun.\nSince it began in 1932\, the convention has grown in size\, stature and influence. Today\, it is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry hosting more than 1\,100 exhibitors and 700 speakers.\n\nProject coordinator Carlo Burkhardt of Pforzheim University will be representing REEsilience as part of the EU booth together with further projects like SUPREEMO  and REEproduce. Europe possesses several known deposits of rare earth elements (REEs)\, but the continent has historically been reliant on imports\, particularly from China. Recent geopolitical and economic shifts have emphasised the need for Europe to develop its own rare earth supply chain.
