SUMMARY:RMIS Science for Policy Forum 2026
DESCRIPTION:The European Commission’s Science for Policy Forum: Leveraging Raw Materials to Strengthen EU Sustainable Competitiveness & Business Opportunities brings together policymakers\, researchers\, industry representatives and EU-funded projects to discuss how innovation\, circularity and sustainable raw material management can strengthen Europe’s competitiveness. The event will also explore the role of critical and strategic raw materials in supporting key policy initiatives\, including the Critical Raw Materials Act. \n\nThe REEsilience project will be represented by Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Carlo Burkhardt during the session“Enhancing Circularity: Transforming CRM-rich waste streams into Strategic Assets for Europe” on 30 September 2026. The session focuses on innovative approaches to circularity and the transformation of critical raw material-rich waste streams into valuable resources for Europe’s green and digital transitions.

SUMMARY:Expert Forum: Rare Earths and Magnets SIGN
DESCRIPTION:As the European Commission advances the Critical Raw Materials Act and prepares the RESourceEU Plan\, Europe is entering a decisive phase: moving beyond upstream ambition toward full value chain execution. This conference will focus on translating policy into bankable projects and downstream industrial capacity by aligning demand visibility\, financing instruments\, and strategic coordination across the value chain. Bringing together industry leaders\, OEMs\, financiers\, and policymakers\, the event will define concrete actions to de-risk investment\, secure offtakes\, and establish globally competitive European rare earth ecosystems. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Forum\nHosted by EIT RawMaterials\, this Expert Forum combines strategic policy dialogue with industry perspectives\, market intelligence\, technology showcases and hands-on collaboration. \nThe programme will explore themes spanning from Europe’s rare earth supply-and-demand outlook\, the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act and related European initiatives\, global competitive pressures\, technology and manufacturing gaps\, and the demand-side mechanisms required to make European projects investable. \nAcross two days\, participants will take part in multiple forms of discussions and project showcases\, networking activities\, a factory visit programme and an invite-only working group focused on translating the Forum’s discussions into concrete actions. \nRepresenting REEsilience\, Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Carlo Burkhardt from Pforzheim University will be participating in the Interactive Session “Industry-Focused Starter Packs for the Raw Materials and Advanced Materials Academies” on November 3rd. \n  \n\nRegister here.

SUMMARY:4th Seminar on Rare-Earth Materials & Magnet Technology 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 4th MSIT Seminar on Rare-Earth Materials & Magnet Technology\, held in Germany and firmly positioned within the European magnet community\, is a unique opportunity for professionals in management and technology to gain a comprehensive overview of the complete supply chain of magnetic materials. It covers resources of rare-earth ores\, mining\, concentration\, separation\, and the transformation into rare-earth oxides and metals\, followed by alloying into magnet powders and the processing of all major types of permanent magnets. \nThe seminar places this topic in a global context while reflecting the important role of Europe within the international magnetics landscape. It addresses global sourcing and supply\, recent economic developments\, and geopolitical factors influencing magnet markets and technologies. In addition\, it explains the materials science foundations that determine magnetic properties\, technology\, and applications. \n  \nREEsilience project partner Prof. Dr. Alexandros Charitos from TU Bergakademie Freiberg will join the seminar on November 16 on the topic of Processing & Molten Salt Electrolysis as well as project partner David Kennedy from HyProMag Ltd and University of Birmingham on the topic of Mining and Separation for RE Magnets. \n  \nRead more.
